  • Meet The Wilderness - Building our youth's character in the wilderness

  • Mission - MTW is committed to providing adventure education programs to youth groups that empower them to develop self-esteem, trust, responsibility, communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to meet challenges. Abundant evidence in the social science literature proves that challenging youth in the environment of a pristine wilderness has significant effects on a plethora of social skills in the lives of young people. Perhaps the most significant published evidence is a meta analysis of the outcomes from almost 100 studies of 12,057 participants in various outdoor adventure education programs. These researchers have documented that immediately after adventure programs substantial positive changes occurred in participant’s leadership, self-concept, personality, and interpersonal skills. Meet The Wilderness has developed such programs for disadvantaged and at risk youth since 1974 and has proven success using detailed evaluations. We have been honored with many awards.
