Communicaid for Hearing-Impaired Persons
CHIP is a non-profit volunteer organization that is working to make life a little easier for the hearing impaired in Montreal. We provide a program of events and workshops for the hearing impaired: communication strategies, classes in lip-reading and Signed English, information on hearing aids and assistive devices, captioned films, guided tours, workshops. At our Technical Resource Centre you can try out a range of assistive listening devices: telephones, amplifiers, doorbells, and alarms. CHIP’s Reach Out program facilitates understanding of the needs of the hearing-impaired in the wider community through education, awareness-building, and advocacy to promote the rights of the hearing impaired. Our School Program is a teacher workshop designed to help educate children and their teachers about hearing and the prevention of hearing loss.
