Social Recreational Companion Program
The goal of the Social Recreational Companion (SRC) program is to encourage independence and healthy lifestyles by providing needed support to individuals with disabilities who want to participate in recreational activities. Some may choose to work-out at a fitness club three times a week, or learn how to swim; others may want to sign up for an organized recreational program such as a Tae Kwon Do class or a Sea Kayaking Trip. Some participants prefer being social while accessing community recreation options like movies, shopping, restaurants and cafes. Whatever the activity, Social/Recreational Companions will ensure that the person they are working with has an enjoyable and empowering experience. SRCs will have opportunities to work with a variety of people in diverse settings and, more importantly, they will have the chance to positively impact someone's life.
