Centre for Evidence Based Physiotherapy - the Netherlands
To search, collect and disseminate available scientific evidence in the physiotherapy domain for physiotherapists, health care workers, patients and financiers of health care. Why? Within the physiotherapy community more and more Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) guidelines exist. However the process of updating, maintaining and initiating new guidelines is hampered by the fact that implementation research is lacking. Moreover, new and existing guidelines in the physiotherapy domain should be developed in an international setting, readily accessible to all physiotherapists and validated by means of benchmarking and electronic surveillance of patient and physiotherapist data. Goals of CEBP To collect and provide Evidence Based information to physiotherapists by means of web based applications, courses and publications; To develop, maintain and update Evidence Based Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) for physiotherapy care; To develop, test and validate indicator driven physiotherapy and patient care; To facilitate benchmarking of physiotherapy practices and patient data; To perform implementation research of guidelines; To maintain a database with RCT’s, reviews and guidelines relevant to the physiotherapy profession; To maintain a datebase with outcome measures (full text) and their clinimetric properties (under development) specific for the physiotherapy domain; To maintain a datebase with the top 500 full text physiotherapy articles (as rated by PeDro) - available from october 2004; To perform these activities in an international setting.
